Microsoft Pricing Update

Last updated: 22nd November 2016

Microsoft has announced changes in pricing for corporate, public sector and academic customers that will come into effect on the 1st of January 2017.  The change in pricing has come about as a result of Microsoft’s decision to harmonise its prices for on premise and cloud software within the EU region.  This will result in a 13% increase for on premise software and 22% for cloud services.

It is important to note that these changes will not affect existing orders under annuity volume licensing agreements for products that are subject to price protection.  For example, customers with Enterprise Agreements have price protection on previously ordered software and cloud services, and will not experience a price change during the term of their agreement.

However, prices for new product additions under these existing agreements and purchases under new agreements will be affected from the 1st of January 2017. Even after this adjustment, Microsoft believes that customers buying in Sterling will still find it’s cloud offerings highly competitive.
