Features
Include:
Morae
Recorder Features
- Morae
Recorder Features.
Morae Recorder captures the total user experience by recording
and synchronizing both user and system activity. Morae records
and captures:
- Screen Video. Any activity taking place on the participants
screen.
- Camera Video. Webcam video of the participants expressions.
- Screen Text. All text on the users screen during
the period of the recording.
- Window Events. When a window/dialog gets focus, is opened,
closed, or resized.
- Audio. Recording of the participants voice through
a microphone.
- Observer Input. Markers that are entered through an Observer
station.
- Mouse Clicks. Left, right, and middle mouse clicks.
- Keyboard Activity. Every keystroke the user makes.
- Web Page Changes. Browser events such as when and where
a user navigates from one Web page to another.
- Customizable
study configurations. Create a study configuration with
custom task definitions, marker definitions and satisfaction
survey. The study configuration also contains recording
information, including how to start and stop Recorder, what
events to capture, who will log tasks in Observer, and how
to process recordings.
- Built-in
user satisfaction survey. Use the standard satisfaction
survey (SUS) or create a custom survey with scale, freeform
answer, choose one answer and choose multiple answers. The
survey is delivered to the participant at the end of the
test, and answers are captured and stored in the recording.
- Audio
and video preview. Recorder automatically scans the
computer system for camera and microphone devices. Use the
live preview of camera video and audio volume to easily
make adjustments.
- Automatic
data protection. If the recording file approaches the
size of a CD-ROM (600 MB), it automatically rolls over into
another file. This guarantees that you can always move recordings
on CD-ROM. In the event of a system crash, Recorder will
automatically recover the recording data.
Observer
Features
- Easy
network connection.
Connect Observer to Recorder via a LAN/WAN (including wireless),
a Virtual Private Network (VPN), or a broadband connection.
- Remote
observation. One or multiple Observer stations can simultaneously
connect to Recorder. Observers can view screen video, user
video (picture-in-picture), and audio streams, automatically
synchronized.
- Marker
definitions display. Marker type, color, and definition
are displayed for all Observers in a floating window. Observers
simply click to select a marker type from the list.
- Participant
picture-in-picture window. Observers can see the participant
in a PIP window during the session. The PIP window can be
moved and resized.
- Immediate
playback. Observers can record a digital video file
(WMV) of content displayed, which can be immediately viewed
and shared after the recording session.
- Customized
text notes. Observers can add text notes to the markers
and tasks they set. Notes from all Observers are saved and
synchronized with the recording.
- Ongoing,
editable log of tasks and notes. Observers can view
a running list of all of the markers they set during a test,
and go back and edit them on-the-fly. The marker scoring
system lets Observers indicate the severity of errors during
the test. Based on this information, Manager automatically
calculates a severity rate.
- Designated
task logger. One Observer specified as task logger in
the study configuration can enter tasks during recording.
The name of the task logger is displayed for all Observers.
- Exporting
Marker Log. At the end of a session, marker logs can
now be exported and shared as a .txt file. Easy to use with
documents and spreadsheets!
Morae
Analysis and Graphing Features
- Synchronized
video streams. Review synchronized screen and camera
(user) video. Select any event, and the camera and screen
recordings instantly move to when the event occurred.
- Flexible
searching. Search for events of interest, or for text
that appeared onscreen, with a powerful natural language
editor.
- One-click
navigation. Click on a marker or task in the project
pane or along the timeline, and Manager displays the screen
and camera video for that event.
- Zooming
timeline. Use Managers zooming timeline and Player
controls to create new tasks, markers and clips and to navigate
through recordings. Filter the markers and tasks you see
along the timeline. Zoom in to view sections of the timeline
more precisely.
- Customizable
graphs and graph templates. Customize graphs by filtering
the types of data used to create the graph and editing the
appearance of the graph (color, grid, bar type, font, etc.).
Graph settings can be saved as reusable templates.
- Text
and audio annotation. Add text or audio notes to markers
or tasks
- Automatic
calculation of standard metrics. Morae automatically
calculates and graphs the usability metrics specified in
the Common Industry Format (CIF) standard effectiveness,
efficiency and satisfaction. Graphs are built with markers,
tasks, marker scores and task scores logged in Observer
or added in Manager.
- Sample
project and report. An example project and an example
common industry format report are included with the Manager
software.
- Exportable
data tables. The data table contains the specific data
for each recording and the minimum, maximum, mean and standard
deviation statistics. Data tables can be viewed and exported.
Morae
Presentation Features
- Video
clips. Create video clips from specific sections of
the recording. Add notes to them with text or audio narration.
- Customizable
camera PIP. Include camera video PIP over the screen
video, and adjust its position, size, and opacity on a clip-by-clip
basis or for the entire video.
- Title
clips. Title clips can introduce a video or act as static
transitions between video clips and graphs on the storyboard.
Customize the color, text and duration of the title clips.
Add audio or a background image to the clip.
- Transitions.
Enable fade in/fade out transitions at the beginning and
end of the storyboard, and between clips.
- Multiple
storyboards. Create and produce more than one storyboard
within a project.
- Shareable
video files. Produce your highlight video in either
an industry-standard AVI or Windows Media Video (WMV) format
for easy sharing. The Pack and Show option ensures that
your AVI highlight video will play on any system.
- Easily
exportable data. Morae lets you export data and present
results in a variety of ways:
- Graphs. Export graphs as bitmap images to use in other
applications.
- Graph data. Export the data table used to create a graph
and open the file in another application, like Microsoft
Excel.
- Search Editor results. Export all or selected results
from any search directly from the List View into a file
to open and manipulate in other applications, such as Microsoft
Excel.
- Survey results. Export the results from a survey to open
in other applications, such as Microsoft Excel.
- Screenshots. Capture and export different types of screenshots
from any Morae recording: a frame of screen video, a frame
of camera video, or screen video with camera video PIP included
(if recorded).
- Video clips. Create a video clip and produce it as an
individual AVI or WMV file (for use in a PowerPoint presentation,
for example).
