Backup Exec 9.2 for NetWare Servers delivers the latest backup and restore technology that provides certified, robust and high-performance data protection of servers and workstation data.

Features Include:

  • Features an identical graphical user interface from either a NetWare server or a Windows system, delivering complete flexibility to manage a backup environment
  • Provides full protection for the latest Microsoft Windows operating systems via Remote Agent for Windows Servers
  • Multiple slot utility operations and custom label media simplify media administration
  • Duplicate Set Copy enables administrators to copy existing backup sets or those being created during backup to provide redundant backups for offsite storage

Backup Exec 9.2 for Netware agents, options and add-ons

  • Remote Agent for NetWare - Expands network-wide data protection by fully protecting all NDS and bindery information across NetWare 3.12, 4.x, and 5.x environments.
  • Remote Agent for Windows NT/Windows 2000 - Enables protection of remote Windows NT and/or Windows 2000 servers while optimising backup performance.
  • Open File Option - Eensures that every file on your network is protected even if it's being used.
  • Library Expansion Option - Enables an additional drive to be added to multi-drive tape or optical autoloader and library storage systems.
  • Intelligent Disaster Recovery Option - The Backup Exec Intelligent Disaster Recovery Option (IDR) provides point-in-time recovery for both local and remote Windows NT/Windows 2000 systems, eliminating the need to first reload the entire operating system.
  • SAN Shared Storage Option - A new, groundbreaking solution for manageability and performance of large-scale, high-end storage environments.

Minimum System Requirements:

Administration Console: Windows 95/98/ME, Windows XP Professional, Windows NT and 2000

  • 128MB RAM minimum
  • 25MB disk space
  • Java Run-time Environment (JRE) version 1.2 installed by Backup Exec to the local workstation

Linux

  • Red Hat Linux v5.1, 5.2 and 6.0
  • SuSE Linux v6.0
  • Mandrake v6.0
  • Caldera Linux v1.3

Macintosh

  • System 7.x using the ADSP (AppleTalk) interface (Power PC) .

Media Servers: NetWare 4.2 or higher (requires IP protocol)

  • 8MB RAM over server requirements, 32MB RAM for Java server components, 25MB disk space required
  • Compatible tape device and controller
  • Java Run-time Environment (JRE) 1.1.7b or 1.2.2 must be installed and loaded to run the Java-based Administration Console from the media server.
  • JRE requires support pack 8 or higher for NetWare 4.x, support Pack 3 or higher for NetWare 5.0. JRE 1.2.2 requires NetWare 5.1 with Support Pack 2A or higher

Remote Agents

  • Windows NT and Windows 2000 - 250KB RAM, 6MB disk space
  • Windows 95/98, Windows ME, as well as Windows XP Professional - 250KB RAM, 20MB disk space

Remote Servers: NetWare 4.2 or higher (requires IP protocol)

  • 6MB RAM over server requirements
  • 10MB disk space
