Pugh
launches boat sponsorship
Cardigan
Bay Watersports unveiled two new sailing boats
this week partly funded with a sponsorship deal
from Pugh Computers.
It
has enabled the centre to purchase two Laser Bahia
sailing boats which will expand the range of facilities
currently on offer by the centre.
Centre Principal Stephen Wood, explains These
boats supplement our current fleet and enable
us to provide youth and adult sailing in modern
craft, which allow students to experience the
thrills of asymmetric spinnakers and trapeze work.
As well as for teaching, the boats are also ideal
for corporate fun events and for team-building
activities.
Jeffrey
Pugh, Managing Director of Pugh Computers adds
Our sponsorship gives Pugh a real involvement
in a community project that introduces local
children and schools to watersports as well
as developing tourism in the area. Last year
we celebrated our 25th anniversary with a staff
fun day at the centre, it proved to be an ideal
activity for team-building and gave everybody
a great day out.
In
addition to sailing, the Cardigan Bay Watersports
Centre also offers windsurfing, kayaking and powerboat
training. Over the past five seasons they have
provided activities and RYA training programmes
to thousands of people who have come to the centre
either as individuals or in organised groups from
schools, youth organisations and companies.
Pugh
sponsorship was match funded by Sportsmatch Cymru
a Welsh Assembly Government funded scheme, managed
by the Sports Council for Wales. The scheme aims
to encourage businesses to invest in sport by
offering the incentive of £ for £
match funding.
