Microsoft
Agreement for schools
Microsoft have announced that a major
agreement with the British Educational Communications
& Technology Agency (BECTA) that will enable UK
schools to acquire and use the most up-to-date Microsoft
software at reduced rate.

How
the Agreement works:
Currently
schools purchase software individually or in groups. By aggregating
demand across the entire UK schools sector, BECTA has been
able to achieve volume discounts for every school.
If
you intend to purchase or renew Microsoft volume licenses
for a school under Select or School Agreement, you can expect
to pay less from 1 January 2004. This saving should be passed
on to you as a direct price reduction from your supplier.
Agreement
Details:
- The
agreement is a three year deal that will be effective from
1st January 2004.
- It
covers England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
- The
discounts are applicable to Academic Select and Academic
Schools agreement but not Academic Open.
- These
discounts are available to all schools including Independent
schools.
- The
deal is NOT applicable to Higher or Further education, LEA
internal use, charities and other government funded organisations.
