Microsoft
School Agreement
Microsoft
School Agreement is a comprehensive, annual licensing
programme specifically created to address the unique
needs of primary and secondary schools. Through a flexible
and simple format, it allows you to choose which products
you wish to deploy on your PC's, making it easier for
you to licence and distribute software with significant
cost savings.
|
New
in Microsoft School Agreement 3.2:

changes in the terms and conditions of the agreement to
reflect a more customer-focused agreement.

customers, by making the contracts better match the format
and terminology used in our other volume licensing agreements.
- Removal
of a couple of products.

one annual fee

the best value from your IT budget

- Stay
legal - ensure that all machines are compliant
- Licence

How
it Works
To qualify for School Agreement you must reach a minimum level
of 50 units. The Agreement is based on counting the total
number of eligible machines in your primary school, secondary
school or LEA and then multiplying that by the number of products
you wish to use on these machines. All eligible machines must
be counted. This figure is your unit count. Each product has
a separate price and this is multiplied by the number of PC's
to reach the cost for one year or multiplied by three for
the three year agreement option.
There
are two pricing levels:
-
Level A = 50 - 2499 unit count
- Level
B = 2500+ unit count
Schools
can also licence students providing they have a faculty agreement
in place. Minimum unit count for eligibility is 100, and schools
can choose to licence a specific number of students or the
entire population.
Eligible
machines include 100% of all Pentiums, Power Macs and iMacs.
In addition you have the option to include any number of 486
machines or below. So, eligible machines are calculated as
follows:
-
100% of all Pentiums, Power Macs and iMacs
- Number
of 286, 386 or 486 machines
- Number
of Apple, UNIX or Windows Terminals
Microsoft
School Agreement allows you to run a selection of licensed
software for 12 or 36 months (depending on term of agreement
selected) including all upgrades. New Machines acquired during
the year are included at no additional fee, until the next
annual anniversary date. At the end of the agreement you can
choose one of the following options:
- Renew
the agreement
- Exit
School agreement - remove software
- Exit
School agreement - buy software under Select
- Exit
School agreement - upgrade to a perpetual licence through
the "buy out" option
Term
of agreement
Microsoft
School Agreement can be signed for either a one or three year
term. If the agreement is signed for three years then on each
anniversary date you need to restate your PC count and you
may also add in extra products if you wish.
