Office Communications Server 2007 is offered in two Client Access license (CAL) editions: Standard CAL and Enterprise CAL.

Office Communications Server Standard External Connector
Provides the rights associated with the Office Communications Server Standard CAL for external users. With an Office Communications Server Standard External Connector license you can extend Office Communications Server Standard CAL functionality to external users.

Office Communications Server Enterprise External Connector
An additive license and requires that a Standard External Connector is also purchased for each server that is accessed by external users. With an Office Communications Server Enterprise External Connector license, you can extend Office Communications Server Enterprise CAL functionality to external users.

The Office Communications Server External Connector license grants access to the Office Communications Server by an unlimited number of external users.
