AutoCAD Revit Structure Suite 2008

AutoCAD Revit Structure Suite 2008

AutoCAD® Revit® Structure Suite combines industry-leading AutoCAD software with the immediate benefits of the Revit Structure building information modelling (BIM) application. With AutoCAD Revit Structure Suite, you can preserve your current investment in technology and training and gain the competitive advantage of BIM—all at your own pace. Revit Structure uses a single building information model and bidirectional linking to third-party analysis applications to integrate and co-ordinate structural design and documentation.

AutoCAD Revit Structure Suite includes AutoCAD and Revit Structure software products.

AutoCAD 2008 features Include:

AutoCAD 2008 software adds features to help make everyday tasks easier. Annotation scaling and control of layers by viewport minimise workarounds, while text enhancements, multiple leaders, and improved tables help deliver an unmatched level of aesthetic precision and professionalism.

  • Annotation Scaling - AutoCAD 2008 software introduces the concept of annotation scale as an object property. Designers can set the current scale of a viewport or model space view, and then apply that scale to each object and specify its size, placement, and appearance based on the scale set for the viewport. In other words, annotation scale is now automated.
  • Layers per Viewport - In AutoCAD 2008 the layer manager has been enhanced to allow users to specify color, line weight, linetype, or plot style as an override for an individual viewport. These overrides can be easily turned on or off as viewports are added or removed.
  • Enhanced Tables - Enhanced tables now give users the option to combine AutoCAD and Excel tabular information into a single AutoCAD table. This table can be dynamically linked so that notifications appear in both AutoCAD and Excel as data is updated. Users can then select these notifications, allowing instant updating of information in either source document.
  • Text & Table Enhancements - The enhanced MTEXT editor now provides the ability to specify the number of columns required and flows new text between those columns as users make edits. The space set between each column of text and the edge of the paper is also customisable. All of these variables can be adjusted to specific values in the dialog box, or adjusted interactively using the new multicolumn text grips.
  • Multiple Leaders - The new multiple leader panel on the dashboard has enhanced tools that automate the creation of multiple leaders and the orientation of the leaders (tail or content first) with the notes.

Revit Structure features Include:

  • Single Model for Both Structural Analysis and Documentation. Revit® Structure combines a physical model of the building fully associated with an editable analytical model. The physical model is used for drawing production and co-ordination and the analytical model is used by third-party structural analysis applications. Any design changes made during the analysis automatically update the physical model as well as the construction documents.
  • Bidirectional Associativity Between Model and Views. In Revit Structure, every 2D and 3D view, every drawing sheet, every detail and every schedule is a direct presentation of information from the same underlying building database. Anytime you make changes, the software propagates those changes throughout the model and updates every related plan, section, elevation or schedule. This key feature of Revit Structure makes all the difference in the system’s ease of use and responsiveness, helping to virtually eliminate co-ordination errors and improve overall documentation quality.
  • Construction Documents. Revit Structure automates the repetitive, manual drafting tasks required in conventional CAD systems. Cut sections, elevations, and call-out detail views instantly. Reference sections, elevations and details automatically in accordance to the sheets numbers. Bidirectional associativity means that any change in any view is propagated in every related view so drawings stay fully co-ordinated.
  • Structural Details. Create details from views of the 3D model with additional annotations, from scratch with Revit Structure 2D drafting tools or import them from conventional computer-aided design (CAD) files. To save time, import entire sheets of typical details in DWG format from previous projects. Dedicated drafting tools are available specifically for steel and reinforced concrete details such as welding symbols, anchor bolts, rebar, concrete area reinforcement and more
  • DWG/DXF/DGN/IFC and CIS/2 Support. Revit Structure imports, exports and links your data with industry-leading formats, including DWG™, DXF™, DGN, IFC, and CIS/2, so you can work with any consultant, client or contractor data. Revit Structure supports the traditional workflow where structural modelling starts with DWG files provided by the architect using AutoCAD® or AutoCAD® Architecture software. Also, Revit Structure 2008 exports 3D models to AutoCAD Architecture 2008 where structural properties can be queried.
  • Bidirectional Links with Multiple Analysis Packages. The Revit Structure analytical model is bidirectionally linked with external structural analysis and design programs. Bidirectional linking means that analysis results accurately and automatically update your model if any member size has changed. And parametric change technology co-ordinates those updates everywhere in your project views and construction drawings. Examples of structural analytical information that can be shared with structural analysis and design programs include release and boundary conditions, loads and load combinations, and material and section properties. Learn more about our analysis partners.
  • Multiple Materials. Revit Structure includes building materials such as steel, cast-in-place concrete, precast concrete, masonry and wood. Since the buildings you design are constructed of multiple building materials, you can model your structure using the materials you
  • Parametric Structural Components. Revit Structure offers a full set of structural design tools such as walls, joist systems, beams, trusses, open web joists, precast concrete elements, concrete rebars, steel connections, anchors, metal decks details and more. Parametric definitions allow quick revisions to any object type. New objects, details or symbols are graphically created and stored in families that you can edit and reuse in other projects.
  • Multi-user Worksharing. Worksharing distributes the power of the parametric building modelling environment across the project team on the Revit® platform. Multiple users can share the same intelligent building information model and save their work to one central file. Worksharing provides a complete range of collaboration modes: within a structural engineering firm, between engineers and drafters and within an architectural engineering firm, between engineers and architects and drafters working with them.
  • Interoperability with Revit Architecture and Revit MEP. Structural engineers, MEP engineers and architects can take full advantage of the Revit building information modelling platform and work more efficiently on the same shared database. Perform interference checking between architectural, structural and MEP elements. For ultimate co-ordination, receive electronic notifications about the design changes made by other parties.
