Revit Architecture Suite 2008
AutoCAD®
Revit® Architecture Suite software turns unparalleled
flexibility to maximum advantage. With industry-leading
AutoCAD® software and the benefits of the Revit®
Architecture building information modelling (BIM) application,
your software, training and design data investments
are protected while you move to BIM at your own pace.
AutoCAD
Revit Architecture Suite 2008 software now includes
AutoCAD 2008 and Revit
Architecture 2008 software applications.

AutoCAD
2008 features Include:
AutoCAD
2008 software adds features to help make everyday tasks easier.
Annotation scaling and control of layers by viewport minimise
workarounds, while text enhancements, multiple leaders, and
improved tables help deliver an unmatched level of aesthetic
precision and professionalism.
- Annotation
Scaling - AutoCAD 2008 software introduces the concept
of annotation scale as an object property. Designers can
set the current scale of a viewport or model space view,
and then apply that scale to each object and specify its
size, placement, and appearance based on the scale set for
the viewport. In other words, annotation scale is now automated.
- Layers
per Viewport - In AutoCAD 2008 the layer manager has
been enhanced to allow users to specify color, line weight,
linetype, or plot style as an override for an individual
viewport. These overrides can be easily turned on or off
as viewports are added or removed.
- Enhanced
Tables - Enhanced tables now give users the option to
combine AutoCAD and Excel tabular information into a single
AutoCAD table. This table can be dynamically linked so that
notifications appear in both AutoCAD and Excel as data is
updated. Users can then select these notifications, allowing
instant updating of information in either source document.
- Text
& Table Enhancements - The enhanced MTEXT editor
now provides the ability to specify the number of columns
required and flows new text between those columns as users
make edits. The space set between each column of text and
the edge of the paper is also customisable. All of these
variables can be adjusted to specific values in the dialog
box, or adjusted interactively using the new multicolumn
text grips.
- Multiple
Leaders - The new multiple leader panel on the dashboard
has enhanced tools that automate the creation of multiple
leaders and the orientation of the leaders (tail or content
first) with the notes.
Revit
Architecture 2008 features Include:
- Bidirectional
Associativity - A change anywhere is a change everywhere.
In Revit® Architectue software, all model information
is stored in one place. As a result, any information that
gets changed is effectively changed throughout the model.
- Schedules
- Schedules are just another view of the Revit Architecture
model. Work in any appropriate view of the building, including
schedules. A change to a schedule view is automatically
reflected in every other view and vice versa. Functionality
includes associative split-schedule sections and selectable
design elements via schedule views, formulas, and filtering.
- Parametric
Components - Parametric
Components, also known as families, are the basis for all
building components designed in Revit Architecture. They
offer an open, graphical system for design thinking and
form making as well as an opportunity to express design
intent at increasingly detailed levels. Use Parametric Components
for the most elaborate assemblies, such as cabinetry and
equipment, as well as for the most elementary building parts,
such as walls and columns. Best of all, no programming language
or coding is required.
- Design
Options - Develop and study multiple simultaneous design
alternatives to make key design decisions. Present multiple
schemes to your clients easily. Substitute each option into
the model for visualization, quantification, and other data
analysis to inform decision making.
- Detailing
- Take advantage of the extensive detail library and
detailing tools provided with Revit Architecture. Presorted
to align with the CSI format, detail libraries can be tailored
to accommodate your office standards. Create, manage, and
share your own detail library.
- Material
Takeoff -
Calculate detailed material quantities with the new Material
Takeoff tool. Appropriate for applications such as sustainable
design, and checking material quantities in cost estimates,
Material Takeoff simplifies the tracking of material quantities.
As your project evolves, the Revit Building parametric change
engine helps to ensure that your material takeoffs are always
up-to-date and accurate.
- Revit
Building Maker -
Access a better workflow for common conceptual and schematic
tasks. Easily create expressive forms to produce an overall
massing study. Import conceptual massing from applications
such as Form-Z, Rhino, Sketchup, and AutoCAD®
2007, or other ACIS® or NURBS (nonuniform rational B-spline)
based applications. Turn them into mass objects in Revit
Architecture. Then select faces to design walls, roofs,
floors, and curtain systems. You can even use tools to extract
important information such as gross area per floor.
- Interference
Check - Use interference checking to scan your model
for collisions between elements.
- Import/Export
Capabilities -
Revit Architecture supports a wide range of industry standards
and file formats, including DGN, DWG, DWF, DXF,
IFC, SAT, SKP, AVI, ODBC, gbXML, BMP, JPG, TGA, and TIF.
In addition to transferring standard lines, arcs, and circles,
Revit Architecture can also transfer complex 3D model geometry
for use in programs such as Autodesk® VIZ or Autodesk®
3ds Max® software. This capability provides opportunities
to create stunning photorealistic interior and exterior
renderings.
- Autodesk
2D and 3D DWF Integration - Revit Architecture supports
complete round-tripping of markups with Autodesk® Design
Review software. Because Autodesk Design Review softwares
markup capabilities combine with Revit Architecture navigation
and revision management capabilities, tracking changes is
easy. Theres no need to reenter information. Revit
Architecture supports publishing a model to 2D or 3D DWF
format. This capability provides high-impact, dynamic communication
of design information in a lightweight format. Its
great for including nontechnical participants in the project
review process.
